PRESS RELEASE - 4/22/2009
Riverside, CA (April 22, 2009) - Monster Energy Cernic's Kawasaki rider Paul Carpenter raced to an eighth place at round fifteen of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series. Carpenter secured his best finish of the season in front of 50,016 fans at Seattle, Washington's Qwest Field. The top ten finish moves him into sixteenth position in the series, despite missing points in five rounds due to injury.
Carpenter and teammate Bobby Kiniry rode well in their qualifying practices and each set some pretty fast lap times. However, towards the end of the final practice session, Kiniry injured his ribs after crashing with another rider. Despite the pain, he qualified for the evening program in nineteenth, with Carpenter qualifying with the eleventh fastest time.

Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Alessi & Reed bring home 4th, 7th
Round 15 – AMA Supercross Series
Seattle, Washington
QWest Stadium
April 18, 2009
Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing’s Ryan Dungey won the AMA Supercross LItes race and extended his points lead at Seattle, Washington’s QWest Stadium on Saturday night. After two months off from racing due to the season’s hiatus, the young rider got a great start on his Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z250 and gapped the field to take the win in the 15-lap race. Dungey leads the overall championship points standings by nine points going into the final round of the Supercross LItes West Coast series next weekend.
In the Supercross class, Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Mike Alessi celebrated an impressive evening. The California rider (yet again) got the holeshot on his RM-Z450, led the first several laps and then battled for a podium spot for most of the night. Unfortunately, he had a minor get-off but remounted to finish in fourth place. Rockstar Makita Suzuki teammate Chad Reed had a tough night. The defending and two-time AMA Supercross Champion fell at the start of the race and had trouble working his way through the field. In the end, Reed finished up in seventh place.
Finally, Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Michael Byrne remains injured and did not race. He hopes to be back racing again soon.

Round 16 - Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series
Las Vegas, NV
Sam Boyd Stadium
May 6, 2006
Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael captured his fifth AMA Supercross Championship in one of the closest title bouts in Supercross history by finishing second in the final round of the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series on Saturday night at a sold-out Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium. Bouncing back from a nasty heat-race crash, teammate Ivan Tedesco finished in seventh position.
“I can’t believe it, I kept saying to myself, there’s no way I’m going to let Chad (Reed) beat me this weekend,” said Carmichael from the podium. “Last few weeks, he’s beaten me fair and square. I knew going into this weekend that I’m only racing part-time next year, and I’ve had a great career. This is just amazing, this is the sport that made me and I can’t say enough for the people in my corner and my Makita Suzuki team. It’s great to go out on top.”
The evening’s festivities started out with Carmichael and Tedesco paired together in their eight-lap heat race. Carmichael got a good start and won the qualifier. Tedesco, unfortunately, crashed hard during the heat race but rebounded strong and won his six-lap semi. Both riders advanced to the main.

Round 15 - Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series
Seattle, WA
Qwest Field
April 29, 2006
Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael battled the elements and the competition to take home a third-place finish at the penultimate round of Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross at Seattle’s Qwest Field on a wet and muddy Saturday night. This victory leaves the defending AMA Supercross Champion tied for the points lead going into the final round at Las Vegas next weekend. Carmichael’s Makita Suzuki teammate Ivan Tedesco finished the night with a seventh-place finish.
“I gave it my all,” Carmichael said from the podium. “I can’t say enough about my Makita Suzuki team, they’ve been behind me 100 percent. Now we’re going to go out to Las Vegas next week and do the best we can and whatever happens, happens.”
Because of the wet weather, the evening’s heat races were shortened from eight laps to six. In short order, Carmichael won the qualifying race and Tedesco came in third. The Makita Suzuki duo advanced to the main.

Round 14 - Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series
Dallas, TX
Texas Stadium
April 22, 2006
Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ivan Tedesco and Ricky Carmichael left the Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross race at Dallas’ Texas Stadium on Saturday night with fourth- and sixth-place finishes, respectively. Defending AMA Supercross Champion Carmichael still holds the lead in the title chase.
At the beginning of the evening, Carmichael won his eight-lap heat race and Tedesco won his six-lap semi. In the 20-lap main event, Carmichael got the holeshot and led the first few laps before a nasty get-off saw him finish in sixth.
“Dallas was definitely not the result that I was looking for,” said Carmichael. “I felt like I was riding really well and just made a big mistake in the whoops. I've been here before and will use my experience to get me through these last two rounds. Seattle and Vegas will be worth the price of admission, for sure."

Round 13 - Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series
Houston, TX
Reliant Stadium
April 1, 2006
Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael continues to extend his points lead in the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series, most recently by finishing second at Houston’s Reliant Stadium on Saturday night. Teammate Ivan Tedesco walked away with a sixth-place finish.
“I feel like I was pretty consistent all night,” said Carmichael. “James (Stewart) has got six wins now, I’ve got six wins and we’re tied for the World title. It’s what everybody wants to see. But I’m just looking forward to getting better. To improving my performance at the beginning of the race and still being there at the end.”
Makita Suzuki’s Carmichael and Tedesco continue to be paired together in the Supercross-class heat races at the beginning of the evening, and Houston’s eight-lap qualifier saw Carmichael get the holeshot with Tedesco right behind him. The duo gapped the field and finished one-two on their Makita Suzuki RM-Z450s to advance to the main.

Round 12 - Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series
Detroit, MI
Ford Field
March 25, 2006
Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael again extended his points lead in the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series by finishing second in front of more than 40,000 cheering fans at Detroit’s new Ford Field on Saturday night. Teammate Ivan Tedesco finished an impressive fourth place.
“It was definitely a race for the fans,” said Carmichael from the podium. “I got to pass Chad (Reed) twice and we were playing cat-and-mouse. Then I got tangled with a lapper and almost crashed. I was bummed for Suzuki, though, because I really felt like we had the speed tonight to battle for the lead. But it was a good race for the fans.”
Like last weekend in Orlando, the two Makita Suzuki riders were paired together in the second Supercross-class heat race of the evening. Although Tedesco holeshot the eight-lap race, it was Carmichael who took the win. Tedesco, meanwhile, went on to win his six-lap semi and both riders advanced to the main.

Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael continues to lead the points chase in the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series after finishing a strong second place in front of a home crowd more than 43,000-strong at Orlando’s Citrus Bowl on Saturday night. Teammate Ivan Tedesco brought home a hard-won fourth.
“I gave it my all tonight,” said Carmichael after the race. “I just didn’t have anything for James (Stewart, race winner). It was frustrating. It’s too bad I couldn’t get up there and give the crowd a better race. I’ll have to go home and work a little harder on my Makita Suzuki RM-Z450.”
At the beginning of the evening, the two Makita Suzuki riders were paired together in the second Supercross-class heat race. Carmichael holeshot the eight-lap qualifier and gapped the field to take the win. Tedesco also got a good start and walked away with a third-place finish. Both riders advanced to the main.

March 10, 2006
Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael won his third consecutive AMA Supercross of the season and regained the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross points lead at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Friday night. This victory is Carmichael’s sixth win of the season and his fifth Daytona win, making him the only rider to have won five races here. It also marks Suzuki’s first Daytona victory since 1981.
“When I was at the gate I heard the announcer say that the last time Suzuki won here was in 1981 and I was 2 years old,” said the defending AMA and World Supercross Champion. “I’ve got to thank Makita Suzuki - it’s great to win a race here on a Suzuki. I’m happy to get the win, but I’m really, really happy for my Makita Suzuki team.”

March 4, 2006
Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael celebrated his second consecutive Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross victory before more than 56,000 enthusiastic fans at Indianapolis’ RCA Dome on Saturday night. Teammate Ivan Tedesco continues to have a stellar rookie year and took home an impressive fourth-place finish.
“To be honest, it was pretty uneventful for me,” said Carmichael of his fifth win of the season, which put him in second place in the AMA Supercross points chase. “I got a really good start on my Makita Suzuki RM-Z450, I think I was in second. And then I got up front and I just tried to keep an eye on Chad (Reed) and James (Stewart) and mark them on the track. Then I just tried to do the best that I could and put in some good laps.”

BREA, Calif. (March 3, 2006) – Team Makita Suzuki Racing announced today that defending AMA Supercross Champion Ricky Carmichael regained the 25 points that he lost when the AMA penalized him for use of illegal fuel at round six of the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series in San Diego, Calif., on Feb. 11, 2006.
"I'm super-pumped about the points -- not just for me, but for my Makita Suzuki team and the fans," said Carmichael. "I'm happy for my team because they've put in too much effort this year to just sit back and watch the other guys compete for the championship. Everyone in Supercross has been working hard to make the racing better for the fans and having the top three guys all going for the title will make the racing even better. Finally, the AMA and FIM's solution is fair for everyone and will help all the teams in the future."

Round 8 - Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series
Atlanta, GA
Georgia Dome
Feb. 25, 2006
More than 70,000 screaming Atlanta fans cheered on Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael as he rode his Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 to an exciting Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross victory at the Georgia Dome Saturday night. Teammate Ivan Tedesco finished the night with an impressive fourth place.
For Carmichael, however, the win was bittersweet. On the one hand, the Atlanta race is close to his Florida home and the defending Supercross Champion was racing in front of friends and family. This was his fourth career win at the Georgia Dome and it was also his 100th career Supercross-class start. But all of this came on the heels of the AMA docking Carmichael 25 points for allegedly using illegal fuel at the recent San Diego round, which knocked Carmichael out of the points lead.

Round 7 - Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series
St. Louis, MO
Edward Jones Dome
Feb. 18, 2006
A large, enthusiastic St. Louis crowd cheered on Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ivan Tedesco as he carded his best finish of the 2006 season with a strong second place at the Edward Jones Dome on Saturday night. Teammate and defending AMA Supercross Champion Ricky Carmichael did not finish the race.
“I’ve been learning from my mistakes each weekend,” said Tedesco of his successful rookie Supercross-class season so far. “I’m learning to ride the Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 better and better, and every weekend we’ve been improving. I’m just trying to learn from my mistakes and go from there.”
For Makita Suzuki, the evening began with a set of Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross heat races that seemed like precursors to the main event. In Tedesco’s eight-lap qualifier, he got a good start and ran third for the first seven laps before making a daring, last-lap pass to take second. Carmichael, meanwhile, went down hard while leading his heat race and was forced to race a six-lap semi, which he won by more than 20 seconds.

“I’m really honored to win this award from a company like Mechanix Wear, who support the mechanics and the job we do,” said Berluti. “I also want to thank Roger DeCoster and the whole Makita Suzuki team for their tremendous support over the years.”

Round 6 - Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series
San Diego, CA
Qualcomm Stadium
Feb. 11, 2006
In front of more than 69,000 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross fans at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium on Saturday night, Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael finished a strong second place and held onto his points lead in the title chase. Teammate Ivan Tedesco brought home a sixth-place finish after a lap-one skirmish.
“I have no regrets,” said Carmichael after the close race. “I rode my butt off tonight, I rode as hard as I could. If I could do the race over again, I’d have done the exact same thing. I know the crowd was loving it and that’s what it’s all about. I’m just happy to be on the box.”
At the beginning of the evening, the Supercross-class heat races proved to be mixed for the Makita Suzuki duo. Carmichael won his eight-lap qualifier but Tedesco, unfortunately, went down while leading his heat race. Even so, he redeemed himself by handily winning his six-lap semi later on in the evening.

Feb. 4, 2006
The third and final sold-out Anaheim round of this year’s Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross saw Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael take his third win of the season and his 130th combined AMA Supercross/Motocross victory. Teammate Ivan Tedesco had his best race of the 2006 season when he carded his first Supercross-class podium with a third-place finish.
Carmichael was almost as enthusiastic about sharing the podium with his teammate as Tedesco was about being up there. Said Carmichael, “It’s great to see a rookie like him come up and get what he’s been working so hard for. I’m really happy for Ivan.”
Almost a picture of what was to come later, the initial Anaheim 3 heat races were exciting ones for the Makita Suzuki riders. Tedesco lined up in the first eight-lap heat and finished an impressive third, whereas Carmichael contested the second heat and ran away with the win. Both riders advanced to the main event.

Round 4 - Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series
San Francisco, CA
SBC Park
Jan. 28, 2006
Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael finished second after battling not only his competitors but also the Northern California weather at the rainy and waterlogged SBC Park in San Francisco’s Supercross Saturday night. Although he didn’t win, the defending AMA Supercross Champion retains the points lead. Teammate Ivan Tedesco struggled in the pouring rain and mud, and finished 16th.
“It was exciting tonight,” said Carmichael about the close race between himself and James Stewart. “We rode our hardest but James beat me. I’m just happy to be on the podium, to be honest. I accomplished my goal tonight, which had been to stay on two wheels. He was prepared to hang it out there a little more than I was. He deserves the win.”
After a full day’s worth of rain, the San Francisco track was soaked at the start of the Supercross heat races. Although Carmichael had a few iffy moments in his eight-lap race, he still carded the win. Tedesco, unfortunately, got caught in multi-rider skirmishes in both his heat and semi, but went on to finish second in the last-chance qualifier and advanced to the main.

Jan. 21, 2006
Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael captured his second consecutive Supercross victory of the year -- as well as the points lead -- in the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series at Angel Stadium on Saturday night in Anaheim, CA. Teammate Ivan Tedesco celebrated his best AMA Supercross-class finish in 2006 by coming in an impressive fourth.
“I’d really like to thank my team because they worked really hard this week,” said Carmichael. “We had some problems in the first few races but we got them straightened out.” This Anaheim victory brings the defending AMA Supercross Champion’s combined AMA Supercross/Motocross wins to 129 (that’s 131 if you count last year’s Canadian World rounds).
The sold-out Anaheim crowd was first treated to an impressive heat race featuring both Carmichael and Tedesco. They both got good starts, with Tedesco first out of turn one. Within seconds, however, Carmichael had pulled ahead. The two Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 riders went on to lead the eight-lap race and finish first and second to advance to the main.

Round 2 - Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Series
Phoenix, AZ
Bank One Ballpark
Jan. 14, 2006
Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael captured his first 2006 Supercross win in front of an overflowing Arizona crowd at Phoenix’s Bank One Ballpark on Saturday night. Serendipitously, last year Carmichael carded his first 2005 Supercross win at none other than the Phoenix venue. Teammate Ivan Tedesco finished ninth overall after suffering a mid-race get-off.
“I feel good, I’m happy to get the win and it was a god race for the fans,” said Carmichael. With this win, the defending AMA Supercross Champion claims a record 130 combined AMA Supercross/Motocross victories.
Although the evening ended satisfactorily for Carmichael, it didn’t start out that way. Paired in the first Supercross-class heat race with teammate Tedesco - who got a great start and finished an impressive second -- Carmichael got caught up in a turn-one melee.

Ramsey wins Western Region AMA Supercross Lites
PHOENIX (January 14, 2006 ) – Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael put a charge back into the Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP/Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series with a thrilling win on Saturday night at Chase Field in Phoenix. KTM’s Nathan Ramsey, of Menifee , Calif. , won the Western Region AMA Supercross Lites main event.
Tonight’s race will air on SPEED tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. EST.
Seven-time supercross champion Jeremy McGrath, of Escondido , Calif. , brought the crowd to its feet with a holeshot to start the 20-lap main event. He led the first lap and a half before being passed by Yamaha’s Chad Reed, of Dade City , Fla. Meanwhile, Kawasaki ’s James Stewart, of Haines City , Fla. , was working his way through the field after a first turn crash left him in last place and over 30 seconds behind the leaders.
With Reed out front, Carmichael began to make his charge. Carmichael was sitting back in second place and was slowly making ground on Reed when the leader spun his bike in the rhythm section before the first triple jump and was forced to stop. By the time Reed got back up to speed, Carmichael was on his tail and began inching closer with each turn. And on lap 11, Carmichael finally made his move with an inside pass in the sweeper turn before the final triple.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (January 7, 2006) – Kawasaki’s James Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., won his third Amp’d Mobile Supercross before a sellout crowd of 45,050 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif. Honda’s Andrew Short opened the Western Region AMA Supercross Lites series with a main event win.
Honda’s Kyle Lewis, of Henderson, Nev., got the holeshot to start the 20-lap main event but it was Honda’s Ernesto Fonseca that jumped into the early lead. Fonseca, of Murrieta, Calif., led until a fourth lap crash removed him from the top spot, leaving the battle to series contenders Chad Reed, Ricky Carmichael and Stewart.
The race would tighten as the trio of riders pulled away from the pack, with Reed, of Dade City, Fla., gaining the early advantage aboard his Yamaha. Carmichael, of Havana, Fla., would push his Suzuki into the lead on lap seven, but a crash two turns later would return the lead to Reed, who was later passed by Stewart two laps later.
Once in the lead, Stewart never looked back and went to capture the win. Reed finished second while Carmichael ended up in third.
“I felt like I rode a great race,” said Stewart, who adds the Anaheim win to two previous victories in the Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP. “I knew I was strong when lap 10 came around. I’ve been putting in a lot of hard work at home with my trainer. I want to stay consistent and I want to take the season slow.”

Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael on the Podium in Exciting Season-Opening Supercross Race
--Next up, Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix, AZ, Jan. 14, 2005--
Round 1 - Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series
Anaheim, CA
Angel Stadium
Jan. 7, 2006
Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael carded a podium finish in the highly anticipated season-opening round of the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series at Angel Stadium, on Saturday night before a screaming, sold-out Anaheim, Calif., crowd of 45,500. Carmichael’s Makita Suzuki teammate Ivan Tedesco captured an impressive top-five finish in his first AMA Supercross class race.
Carmichael started the cool, dry evening by winning his eight-lap heat race aboard his Makita Suzuki RM-Z450. “I’m having a blast,” he said from the podium. “This was a great start for me and it’s just good to be out here at the start of the season.”
Although Tedesco crashed in his heat race, he won his six-lap semi and advanced to the main. He attributed the victory to racing the two World Supercross GP events. “The Canadian races were good to get a feel for where I’m at,” he said. “The team’s been working really hard on the RM-Z and I’ve been working really hard on myself.”
For the main event, Carmichael and his Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 rode hard for all 20 laps but a mid-race get-off resulted in his forfeiting the win. When the starting gate dropped, Carmichael got a good jump off the line but got caught up in the madness of turn one. Even so, he charged ahead and was battling for the lead when he went down in the whoop section. In spite of the get-off, Carmichael recovered and got a spot on the podium.

Officials at Monster Energy wanted to take a moment to wish their Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series riders the best of luck for the coming competition season.
“Monster Energy is back with even more love for the sport of Supercross in 2006,” said Monster Energy spokesman Scott Sepkovic of Crown AMG. “Everybody back at Monster Energy headquarters were going Richter when Tedesco and Langston won the Supercross titles last year. Monster Energy easily had the most visibility out of any energy drink on the tour last year. And with that in mind they’ve upped the ante for ’06 with Pro Circuit/Kawasaki.”
The mighty Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team features racers Grant Langston, Ryan Villopoto, Ben Townley, Chris Gosselaar and Troy Adams. And though Langston returns as the only defending champion (AMA SX Lites East), Townley was the 2004 GP Series’ MX2 class champion and third in MX1 last year. In ’04 Townley won nine GPs to become the World 125 GP champ.

AURORA, Ill. (January 1, 2006) – As the Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP/Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series prepares to make its annual visit to Southern California on Jan. 7 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, the sport’s top teams and riders are using the final two weeks of the year to make last minute adjustments and preparations.
The Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP kicked off earlier this month with back-to-back races north of the border in Toronto and Canada, where the trio of Ricky Carmichael, Chad Reed and James Stewart renewed their heated rivalries. Although Stewart walked away with a clean sweep of the Canadian rounds after winning convincingly ahead of Carmichael and Reed, the Kawasaki rider admits it was only “a good start to a long season.”
“There are two races down and 16 more to go if I’m to reach my goal,” explained Stewart, who enters his second season of racing in the AMA Supercross division, formerly known as the 250 class. “I really learned a lot last season with everything that I went through. I know that I'll need to be consistent as well as fast to win this championship.”

HOUSTON (December 28, 2005) — The Maestro Suzuki professional motocross race team announced today its rider line-up for the 2006 racing season. The second-year team is slated to compete in AMA Lites West in the Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Series and the AMA Motocross class in the AMA Toyota Motocross Championships.
Leading the charge for the Houston-based team will be hometown hero Jeff Dement, who resides in nearby Kingwood, Tex. Entering his 16th season of professional racing, Dement is fresh off a career best 10th place finish overall in the 250 class from last summer's AMA Motocross Championship and will be counted on to provide experience and leadership to a young group of riders that include rookie riders Shaun Skinner, Stuart, Fla., Vernon McKiddie, Houston, Tex., and Adam Chatfield, a former amateur champion from England.
"We have a great group of riders that should compliment each other very well," explained Jeff Edwards, a successful Houston businessman and owner of Edwards Racing. "I think we exceeded everyone's expectations a year ago, grabbing a podium and a top-ten finish in just our first year of racing. We are looking to build on what we were able to do last year and move this program forward for the future."

Irvine, Calif. (December 22, 2005) – Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. and Pro Circuit Racing, Inc. have developed one of professional motocross racing’s most successful partnerships in recent years and the 2006 season won’t be any different. Leading the charge for Team Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki for the 2006 AMA Supercross and Motocross campaigns are defending AMA East Supercross Lites Champion Grant Langston, along with New Zealand ’s highly-touted Ben Townley, rookie sensation Ryan Villopoto, SX/MX up-and-comer Troy Adams, and Chris Gosselaar.
Langston, 23, is coming off one of his best seasons as a pro and appears to get better with every race. A six-year AMA Motocross racing veteran, Langston became the first rider ever to win three separate championships in the same category, Supercross, Motocross and FIM World competition, after clinching the AMA East Supercross Lites Championship last March. Langston continued his momentum straight into the AMA Motocross Lites season and racked-up four overall motocross wins to finish fourth overall in the series. This year, Langston will compete in the eight-race AMA West Supercross Lites Series and 12-race AMA Motocross Lites Championship riding the new 2006 KX™250F.
Riding alongside Langston in the AMA West Supercross Lites Series will be rookie sensation Ryan Villopoto. The 17-year-old from Poulsbo , Wa., showed lightning-fast speed during his amateur career and was recently awarded the AMA’s Horizon Award. This award is given annually during the AMA Amateur National Championships to the top amateur rider on the verge of a professional career. Villopoto also captured a second overall finish in his third start as a pro last year during the final AMA Motocross Lites race of the season at Glen Helen Raceway Park .

2006 Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP Series
Round 2: Vancouver, Canada
December 10, 2005
Sobe/Samsung Mobile/Honda’s Davi Millsaps overcame a near-last-place start in Vancouver’s World SX GP main event, carving his way up through the pack to finish an inspired second and put himself and his #118 Honda CRF250R on the podium for the second straight week. Teammate Billy Laninovich also notched his second straight appearance on the box, following Millsaps home in third. Nathan Ramsey of the KTM squad would take the win.
Millsaps, the podium winner December 3 in Toronto, worked his way up into third just past the halfway point, reeling in and passing Laninovich, who’d been pressuring Ramsey for the lead in the early going, with four laps to go. By then Ramsey had built up enough of a cushion, and that was as far as Millsaps would get before the checkers came out. All said, however, Ramsey cleared the line just three seconds in front of the #118 Honda CRF250R-mounted rider, so who knows what might have happened had there been a couple more laps of play.
Laninovich would easily cross the line in third, well ahead of Suzuki’s Ryan in fourth. From there, it was Team Honda’s Andrew Short in fifth, with Darcy Lange sixth, Josh Hansen seventh, Ryan Morais eighth, Honda’s Jake Weimer ninth and Michael LaPaglia 10th.

Stewart wins his second straight World Supercross GP race aboard the all-new KX™450F
VANCOUVER, B.C., Canada (December 10, 2005) – It is obvious that Canada has been very good to Kawasaki Racing Team rider James Stewart. After earning his first-ever World Supercross GP victory last week in Toronto, the young upstart from Haines City, Fla., completely dominated the Supercross field to earn his second straight win during round two of the Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP at B.C. Place Stadium on Saturday.
"It’s been a good two weeks," smiled a low-key Stewart during the post race press conference. "It was a good race, and I felt good out there. It’s a long series and we still have a lot of work to do. People forget that I haven’t really raced a KX450F except for these last two races, but I’m getting used to the bike and I’m learning a lot. We got through these races smart and safe and I’m looking forward to Anaheim."

Round 2 - Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP
Vancouver, B.C., Canada

Dec. 10, 2005
Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael and Ivan Tedesco all but recreated last week’s exciting season-opening Supercross round at B.C. Place Stadium in Vancouver on Saturday night. Charging hard, Carmichael finished on the podium in second position, while Tedesco brought home a strong fourth-place finish.
Paired together in the first Supercross-class heat race of the evening, Carmichael and Tedesco started the night with a bang by taking first and second in the eight-lap heat race. In fact, Tedesco led the first few laps before being passed by Carmichael. “I was a little nervous,” admitted Tedesco of leading his first-ever premier-class race. “But I knew Ricky was behind me and wouldn’t do anything crazy. When he went by me, I just tried to follow him and learn from him.”

2006 Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP Series
Round 1: Toronto, Canada
December 3, 2005
Honda’s revolutionary new, dual-muffler CRF250R couldn’t have asked for a better debut, with a little help from Team Honda ace Davi Millsaps, than this past Saturday night’s Amp’d Mobile World Supercross Lites season opener in Toronto, scoring a win in its first-ever contest in arguably the world’s premier 125cc Supercross series. In fact, 13 of the 22 bikes lined up for the main event were Hondas, and six of those would finish in the top 10, giving what could be a sneak preview of great things to come as the 2006 AMA 125 Supercross Series gets ready to kick off next month in Anaheim, CA.
Just for the record, the Lites events slated for Toronto and next in Vancouver offer no AMA points or championship aspirations and are scheduled to secure bragging rights, essentially, as the 125cc class heads into the AMA battles. Still, this didn’t stop a slew of the top 125 pilots from showing — including Millsaps and factory Honda teammate Andrew Short, as well as SoBe/Samsung/Honda/No Fear riders Billy Laninovich and rookie Jake Weimer — nor did it stop Honda-mounted riders from taking the lion’s share of glory on the night.
And as he did a few times last season both indoors and out, it was Andrew Short who snagged the holeshot and threatened to check out in the early laps as Josh Hansen, Nathan Ramsey and Millsaps gave chase.

Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael came in second place after an exciting season-opening round of the Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP in Toronto, Canada, at Rogers Stadium on Saturday night. Making his debut in the premier Supercross class, his Makita Suzuki teammate Ivan Tedesco finished up an impressive fourth.
“It was a great race for the fans,” said Carmichael, the defending World Supercross GP and AMA Supercross Champion. “I didn’t get a good start but I got up front pretty quick. When James (Stewart) fell, I tried to put my head down and race my own race. James was a lot faster than me but I learned a lot this weekend.”

In front of a packed house at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday night, Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael became the first rider to win three U.S. Open of Supercross events. Round 14 - THQ AMA Supercross Series Seattle, WA Qwest Field April 16, 2005
For the first time since 1999, Seattle fans got to see a Supercross - but not just any Supercross. The enthusiastic crowd of almost 50,000 braved Washington's infamous weather to see Team Makita Suzuki Racing's Ricky Carmichael clinch his first-ever THQ World Supercross GP Championship at Qwest Field on Saturday night. The subdued Floridian adds this prestigious title to his already lengthy list of 11 combined AMA Supercross/Motocross titles.
"It's a great feeling," said Carmichael about his first World title. "I'd like to thank Clear Channel for making this possible. I'm pumped to win this title and it's just a good feeling after having made the commitment to the World rounds back in December. I'd also like to thank the Seattle fans for coming out since the weather has been kind of sketchy. I liked Seattle and I look forward to racing here again."

Round 13 - THQ AMA Supercross Series Pontiac, MI Silverdome April 9, 2005
With just three THQ AMA Supercross events left in the season, Team Makita Suzuki Racing's Ricky Carmichael continues to lead the points chase after finishing second at Michigan's Silverdome on Saturday night. The large and enthusiastic crowd of more than 50,000 cheered Carmichael on as he took yet another podium spot.
"No excuses, I got beat," said Carmichael after the race. "It's really frustrating because I was in a good position to win and my Makita Suzuki RM250 has the ability to win. I don't want to just cruise around out there and protect the championship. I belong up front."
In the main event, Carmichael got a good start and challenged for the lead throughout the entire 20 laps. Although he rode smoothly and made no mistakes, he remained in second place at the end of the night.
"I tried hard but it wasn't enough," said Carmichael afterward. "I'm happy overall because everything has been going really well and I'm in a better position than I thought I would be at this point in the year. But I have some unfinished business and these guys have stepped it up to give a last-minute surge. Now it's up to me to surge back."

April 2, 2005
In front of a rowdy Dallas crowd of more than 43,000, Team Makita Suzuki Racing made a strong THQ AMA Supercross showing once again. Multi-time SX/MX Champion Ricky Carmichael finished an impressive second while teammate Sebastien Tortelli came in a healthy fourth at Texas Stadium on Saturday night.
Granted, the evening started out a little slow for the team - Carmichael crashed during his eight-lap heat race and was forced to go to his first semi of the season. After holeshotting and then taking the semi win, Carmichael said, "The smartest thing I can do in the main tonight is just do my best and stay out of harm's way."

AURORA, III. (March 28, 2005) - This weekend the city of Dallas hosts the world’s top THQ World Supercross GP/THQ AMA Supercross Series riders, featuring Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart, Chad Reed and Travis Pastrana.
Pastrana, 21, and Stewart, 19, sustained injuries earlier in the season, forcing them to miss the first half of the season. Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., returned to racing two weeks ago at Orlando’s Citrus Bowl where he finished on the podium. Pastrana, of Davidsonville, Md., returns to racing this weekend.
Yamaha’s Reed, of Dade City, Fla., has won three races this season and currently sits in second place in THQ AMA Supercross Series points standings behind Suzuki’s Carmichael. Reed, who won his first 250cc THQ AMA Supercross Series championship last season, earned his 21st career 250cc supercross victory at Orlando’s Citrus Bowl. Press Release: AMA Pro Racing
PICKERINGTON, Ohio (March 28, 2005) -- Yamaha’s Chad Reed heads into the upcoming Dallas Supercross hoping to become the first rider in series history to win the Texas Stadium event three straight times. The race, held in Irving, Texas, on April 2, is round 12 of the 16-race THQ AMA Supercross Series.
Reed is on a two-race winning streak coming into this Saturday’s race and he hopes to keep his momentum going. In 2003 Reed went on a six-race romp and pushed Ricky Carmichael all the way to the final race in the series championship chase. Reed is coming off what he described as one of the strangest victories of his career two weeks ago in Orlando.
“To win and barely break a sweat was weird,” said Reed who rode to his third win of the year in Orlando. “I got a bit fortunate with the mistakes made by the other riders. Every point counts in trying to catch Ricky. I believe I still have a shot at the title. We still have a lot of racing to do and anything can happen.”

CHICAGO -- A federal jury on Monday ordered Clear Channel Communications Inc. to pay a rival promoter $90 million for engaging in anticompetitive behavior to land a deal to promote motorcycle races.
Chicago-based Jam Productions Ltd. had accused Clear Channel of illegally using its entertainment industry might to scuttle Jam's bid to promote Supercross dirt-track motorcycle racing at arenas across the country.
Jurors ruled that while Clear Channel did not violate antitrust laws, the company had intentionally interfered with Jam's contract and its business relationship with the American Motorcycle Association. They ordered Clear Channel to pay $17 million in lost profits and $73 million in punitive damages.

After having nary a healthy rider for the ’04 Daytona Supercross, Team Honda/Moto XXX was happy to enter the toughest race of the 2005 series with a pair of healthy racers. Kyle Lewis was still doing some recovering from a huge crash in Indianapolis, but was looking forward to the grueling, outdoor style track in Daytona. After a departure from the 125 East series top ten in St. Louis, Justin Buckelew was looking forward to getting back where he belongs in the super speedway’s infield.
Up against a laundry list of factory riders, Buckelew took to the rough Daytona track aboard his trusty CRF250R. After qualifying safely from his heat race, he had a decent gate pick and was eager to test himself for 15 laps. Unfortunately, he didn’t get the start he was looking for and came out of the first turn in 16th place. “Bucky” rode with confidence, though, and methodically worked his way up in the standings. He took the checkered flag in 10th place. The come-from-behind effort served to boos his confidence, as well as his ranking in the series, which is now 11th.

PICKERINGTON, Ohio (March 17, 2005) -- AMA Pro Racing and Clear Channel Motorsports have announced that Friday practice for this weekend’s round of the THQ AMA Supercross Series in Orlando has been cancelled due to inclement weather.
Steady rains have prevented crews from being able to load-in the dirt at the Citrus Bowl resulting in a delay in track construction.
While Saturday’s schedule, including practice and qualifying heats, is expected to run as planned, severe weather could impact the event schedule further. Additional information will be issued if necessary.

Press Release Issued By KTM North America
Sand whoops, heavy wind and a crash on the last lap couldn't stop the young Red Bull KTM rider, Josh Hansen from taking the 125cc win at the Daytona Supercross.
Hansen's night started off strong as he rode smoothly and consistently to place second in his 125cc heat race. In the main, a good start gave Josh the opportunity to run at the front of the pack, and he quickly moved into the third position. Mid-race, Hansen snuck in behind the race leader and didn't leave his side. Honda rider, Josh Grant and Josh Hansen battled back and forth for the lead. Coming into the last lap, Josh Hansen made a legal and clean pass, but lost control in the sandy whoops and crashed into Josh Grant. Both were slammed to the ground, and in an adrenaline fueled sprint, Josh Hansen picked his bike off the floor and raced to the checkered flag for a well-deserved first place. This is KTM's first win at Daytona, although folklore has it that Buck Murphy won the Daytona event in the early 70's aboard a Penton/KTM, even before the "Supercross" moniker was coined.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 14, 2005) – Though Team Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Grant Langston lost ground in the hunt for the 125 Eastern Region championship at the 10th round of THQ AMA Supercross last Friday, he only slipped two points behind the leader, keeping him well within striking distance.
After winning his qualifier, Langston started the 125 main event in eighth and began an aggressive charge towards the front of the pack. Langston was riding strong and advanced to fifth before he cased a jump and crashed. He continued to charge forward – only to crash again in the whoops on lap ten. Langston recovered and rallied back from 19th to ultimately end up in 15th. The finish moved Langston to second place in the overall 125 point standings, only two points behind Josh Hansen.

Carlsbad, CA – March 14, 2005 - The infamous International Speedway at Daytona proved it couldn’t slow 250cc Factory Yamaha rider, Chad Reed, as he secured a victory Friday night at the tenth and most difficult stop of the AMA Supercross Series.

“I’m pumped”, expressed an elated Reed. “I was really motivated to make this a challenge, but I raced the way I should have raced and came out with the win.”

Ricky Carmichael (Suzuki) put in an incredible ride at tonight's Atlanta Supercross to take the 250cc win over top rival Chad Reed (Yamaha). Reed took the holeshot and led early in the race before being passed by Carmichael around lap 5. Just after passing Reed, Carmichael crashed and dropped back to third, but the Suzuki rider was able to quickly pass Kevin Windham to move back into second. From there, Carmichael put in some incredible lap times to slowly cut away Reed's 5-second lead, eventually repassing Reed to take the lead 3 laps from the finish. Kevin Windham (Honda) finished a distant third, some 30 seconds behind Carmichael.
In the 125cc class, it was all Pro Circuit, with Grant Langston (Kawasaki) taking the win, followed by teammate Matt Walker (Kawasaki). Steve Boniface (Honda) came home third.
Carmichael maintains a commanding lead in the 250cc points race, 32 points ahead of Reed. Grant Langston leads the East Coast 125cc points.

The legal battle, set in the courtroom of U.S. District Judge Matthew Kennelly, pits Chicago impresario Jerry Mickelson against Clear Channel Communications, a media behemoth that dominates arena concerts and radio across the country. But Clear Channel's lawyer Chris Gair painted his client's business practices as typical.

2005 AMA THQ Supercross
Round 5: Anaheim, CA
February 5, 2005
Red Rider Billy Laninovich racked up his second podium in as many weeks, guiding his Amsoil/Chaparral/Napster Honda CRF250R to a second-place 125 West finish before a sellout Angel Stadium crowd at round 5 of the 2005 THQ AMA Supercross Series in Anaheim, California.
Laninovich, who won last week's 125 West event in San Francisco, crossed the line just 2.232 seconds behind race winner Ivan Tedesco. Nathan Ramsey filled out the podium in third.
Coming off a pair of back to back seconds, Angel Stadium was not so heavenly for Team Honda's Andrew Short, as he crashed out of the main on lap nine.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (February 5, 2005) - Kawasaki has taken a powerful advantage in the 125 Western Region Supercross series due to the outstanding performance of defending THQ AMA 125 Western Region Champion Ivan Tedesco. The Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider became the first 125 repeat winner after five rounds of racing when he took the checkered flag before a sold-out crowd of 45,050 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif.
After having to battle from behind all season long, Ivan Tedesco took advantage of his best start of the season during the 125 main event. Immediately following the start, and heading out of the split S-turn section, Tedesco blasted past Danny Smith and Billy Laninovich before the first triple jump to take the lead. Tedesco remained unchallenged for all 15 laps and piloted his Kawasaki KX250F to a 2.232-second margin of victory over Laninovich and Nathan Ramsey for the win.

Anaheim, CA ( Feb. 5, 2005) - By winning the third Anaheim, CA, round of THQ AMA Supercross at Angel Stadium on Saturday night, Team Makita Suzuki Racing's Ricky Carmichael became the first factory-supported Suzuki rider ever to win four straight 250cc Supercross races in a row.
"I turned what should have been a bad race into a good race in Anaheim," said a pleased Carmichael after the event. "I just tried to race myself and ride my Makita Suzuki RM250 consistently - not do too many crazy things and put in some solid laps."
Carmichael's overall night was strong in that he got the holeshot in his heat race and won - again. And although he didn't holeshot the 250 main, he was in the lead by the end of the first lap. He kept that lead until the checkers. "I'm fortunate in that I've always gotten good starts - even when I was on minis -- and I try to make wise choices on my starting positions," he explained. "Also, my Makita Suzuki RM250 has a good engine and it helps with getting out of the gate first."

Press Release Issued By American Honda (January 31, 2005)
2005 AMA THQ Supercross
Round 4: San Francisco, CA
January 29, 2005
Honda Red Rider Billy Laninovich scored his first career AMA 125cc Supercross win tonight in convincing fashion, leading all but the first lap en route to the checkers aboard his Amsoil/Chapparal/Napster Honda CRF250R.
Team Honda's Andrew Short repeated his round three performance by tallying his second straight runner-up finish, making it a 1-2 Honda hoot atop San Francisco's SBC Park podium.
Laninovich, whose victory made him the fourth different winner in as many rounds, struck quickly as the first lap wound down, railing past Danny Smith into the lead he'd never surrender. Shortly after that, Team Honda's Short also got by Smith, but couldn't close the gap on a blistering Laninovich before crossing the line in second.
