Well let's not all jump in at once. Thanks EvMon.

The last time I rode was like I said before. Around 25 yrs ago. I had a yamaha 100. Yep....a yamaha. But my grades went to crap and my parents sold it. Oh well. Thank goodness for Rodeo.......heh heh heh.

Been riding quads off and on for the past few yrs. I finaly told the wife I wanted another bike. So there you have it. Now she is getting pissy because I want to get my bike running real good, and I spend alot of time on the weekends working on the bike. Now bikes and quads.

Anybody ever remember a place called escape country in Irvine or El Toro Ca? Now that is dating myself.

Ok, first let me combine your sig and your wife "getting pissy." I read your sig to say "04' Sportrax 400 Ex-wife's" and I thought "Well at least he got to keep the hardware." With that said, let's hope she doesn't get too pissy Very Happy

I spent my formative years in Oregon so I don't remember much about CA from back then. But as far as dating yourself, if you still had "grades" 25 years ago you couldn't be that old!

I guess I should've put more spaces between the 400EX and wife. I am still married for now. If I keep getting mods for the bike I won't be. She's good with it.

So welcome to Club OHG! What a great idea! Whomever came up with that must've been a GENIUS!!! (tee he tee he).. javascript:emoticon('Razz')

thanks Ev, this will be a fun place for a chat...

So, talk about dating yourself, the last time I rode in an MX (of course that was before there even was an SX) I was riding on a TM125! hmm... I guess that was in about '78 and I guess it was a hair scramble back at Antietam Motocross in Hagerstown, MD.

that's where I gew up... In fact, I only live about 20 minutes from there now, but Antietam didn't survive. It was shut down a couple years ago and I think, sold to a developer. Now I'm still looing for a place to ride!

The credit belongs to you Tommy. We just a few more old(er) guys to post.

I never did any MX. I just rode on trails and the street......I lived in a horse town growing up.

These hare scrambles sound like they could be alot of fun. Is there any place to get more info in the hare scrambles that you no of?

Check the District 37 website: http://www.district37ama.org/home.php. I think that covers your area.

Thanks Tommy for hooking me up.

That's right, If you put 1 and 1 together, you get two DAQ’s.
TommyDaq (my younger brother) informed me of this site. I haven’t been on a street bike (Honda Shadow 500, his) since ’86 and on a dirt bike since ’73 –’75 maybe. I can’t remember that far back.

Living in SoCal (Southwest Riverside County, Temecula), everyone I know rides. It was only a matter of time before I would start again. My wife said if that is all he wants after 13 years of marriage, he can have it.

Well, it all started with the JR50 for my 4 yr old, Dec. ‘03. Within three months, I needed something to keep up with him (’04 XR400R). My daughter didn’t want left out so this year for their birthdays (he turned 6, she 10) the ’05 CRF50 entered the picture. She is now looking at a KTM Senior Pro (50). It doesn't take long once they're hooked does it.

My riding over the past year has been limited to 1st and 2nd gear mostly, putting around with the kids, but hey, I don’t get hurt that way.

I recently made a trip to the California Desert (Ocotillo Wells) and rode with the big boys (30 – 38 year olds). I’m still the old man of the group (44 this summer) and keeping up with the young guns is tough, but I’m holding my own. I just keep to what I am comfortable doing. No big doubles or triples for me. Don’t get hurt my wife always says.

We are planning another trip next week; I’ll try to get some pics for you viewing pleasure.

Until then:

BillyDaq

Welcome Billy! Most the guys I ride with these days are closer to 50+ and they are faster than I am, so don't worry too much, you'll catch on! So my son is 10 and my daughter is 6, maybe we got a match going here Wink

I'm trying to get some of the other guys to get back on All-Offroad but the old crew is pretty busy these days and the newer guys I ride with are not really computer savy and are a bit resistant. We'll see how it goes.

Later All

Billy, CspineRider and I are going to Ocotillo the weekend of 14-17. There is going to be a big group of us out there (family and friends) I have three daughters and a 7 yr old son. So if you feel up to it we would love to meet new friends. Bring the wife along too. Should be a good time.

I haven't been to Ocotillo in a couple years, sounds like fun. Unfortunately I'm busy all weekend. Saturday we are having my son's birthday party and Sunday I'm working the start and the podium for the Hollister women and youth make-up races.

This might be the last trip to Ocotillo this yr. Summers coming and got to start getting the boat ready for the river. Although we were talking about taking a trip to Spangler in May. I'll keep you posted. There is always Ocotillo next year.

Well, it looks like we are getting a couple riders together for a quick Saturday turn around out to Ocotillo. We usually make camp on Pole Line Rd., near the restrooms, close to 78. I have a feeling it is going to be warm, but the riding is way worth it.

As for the wife, there is no way you'll see her out there unless we are riding in a big motor coach with air and I get her a modified golf cart with a built in blender for her margaritas.

It looks like there will be at least three and maybe up to seven of us making the trek. Have a safe trip. Maybe we'll cross paths. Tom, where do you camp and what should we look for? Any special banners or flags waving over head?

Damn, I'm jelous! Hook you up w/ one website and ALREADY you've got riding buddies!

Sounds like you guys will have a blast!

I just spoke to a woman earlier this evening that has a track in West Virginia. She says she's got an arenacross track that would be perfect for Collin and Christopher and that I could bring them by on a day that they are closed so that they could get acclimated to track riding before getting them there on a Saturday or Sunday w/ one hundred other riders. It'll be $25 a pop - $35 if Dad's gonna ride too. - The one bad thing about riding back here is, to stay legit, you've got to pay to ride!

Now, I've got to be able to get the bikes out there!

Billy, can you send me measurements, and photos of the rack you built for the back of the Suburban?

(BTW, the RM is idling good now).

We will be camping at Hidden Valley off of the 78 and Cahilla by the blue inn. Take the cahilla trail for a couple miles and we will be on the left by the cement restroom. We will have around eight motorhomes, some with 20-30ft flag poles on top. I think one has a skull and cross bones flag. Were hard to miss.
