Billydaq, Here's what I'll be flying off of my RV. American flag, U.S Army flag, USMC flag and last but not least the checkered flag. That's in order. Now that you can't miss.

CRF_Tom, we'll be leaving Temecula around 6:30 Sat. morning. It's about a 2hr drive. After setting up, we should be riding between 9 & 9:30. I'll talk the guys into a warmup towards your camp. Enjoy your trip.

BRP, one of these days we will have to get a ride in together. Even if it is just in the Riverside area. Have you been out near Rubidoux? There is a place off of market. You can see this hill with some trails on it. Cspine has been there. Could be an option.

Just thought I'd say "Hi". I've enjoyed the little I've read here so far. I too was off the bike for about 19 years...following a nasty accident involving a Husky 250 CR and a freight train...not pretty. Anyway, I picked up an '01 RM 250, and have really enjoyed getting back into it. Mostly been riding trails, and some hairscramble courses. I need to change the gearing, it's a little too high for the trails, and I'm looking to put a taller seat on it. I've felt cramped, and I found a bike shoot-out from '01j, and some of the testers said putting the RM125 seat (which was taller) really made the bike feel nice. I'm only 6'2", but I feel like I'm 7'0'" on this thing. My last bike was a '79 Husky...it's NUTS how fast and powerful these newer bikes are!! Great site, keep up the good work.

Wow. Ocotillo Wells. That's where my former riding days ended. I bifed it big time on my KTM 495 back in 89 and broke my femur when my wife was 8 1/2 month pregnant. Is the Iron Door still there? That was one of my problems. Oh well, now I'm 50 and looking at getting another bike. I live in the mountains of northern Arizona. I am looking at a Wr426 or a XR400R for trail and desert riding. What do you guys recomend? Needs to handle good, start easy, and have enough power to get my 6' 205LB body up the hills and through the sand.

The WR is a good bike for hardcore, standing on the pegs, Pull your shoulder from the socket, going fast, kinda riding. The XR400 is a mellower, though still way fun, trail rider. While I have a WR426 and love it, it honestly beats the crap out of me. IMHO if you are looking for fun and reliability I'd lean towards the XR400.
Both have enough power to lug you around... |
