So I've been taking the kids riding more lately. It's a blast to see them ride, but I can't wait till they can keep up, so I can ride too. But to my point, Eric has a TTR-90. This is a really great bike. 3-speed, easy shifting (no clutch) but he's been having a problem. When he turns to the left the engine revs high and he goes flying. When he turns to the right, the engine dies.

(at this point I should just stop, because the rest just makes me look too stupid!)

Well, I think obviously this has to be a cable adjustment/routing issue. Now I SWEAR I looked in the manual and it said the cable was the idle adjust. Plus there was no idle screw when I looked for one. This made things really difficult. Today I finally called the local shop. They said NOOOOO the idle adjust is a screw on the side of the carb. Turn up the idle and back off the cable so there is more play. (Well I would have done this had the manual not said to use the cable to adjust the idle!!!)

So I go out to the garage and dig the manual out of the cupboard. Only to find that it was still sealed in the plastic! Oh well. all is good now, except my finger. Turns out the idle adjust screw is on the inside of the carb and I had to burn my finger several times to get the idle adjusted with the engine hot.

Anyway, click on the picture for a few more photos of my two kids riding.
