Off-Road: Trail Riders Feast On Wild Boar
Posted by: EvMon on Mar 28, 2005 - 09:00 PM
Racing News COALINGA, CA (March 12/13) - Top adult and youth enduro riders experienced beautiful weather and great trail conditions at two major off-road events at a popular federal recreation site. On March 12 and 13, hundreds of participants signed up for Round 1 of the AMA sanctioned 2005 Moose Racing Youth Enduro Series and Round 2 of the Moose Racing Northern California Championship Enduro Series held at the Clear Creek Management Area.

The BlueRibbon Coalition (BRC) and FMF Racing’s Sound Testing Program for OHVs were on hand at both the Wild Piglet Youth Enduro and Wild Boar Enduro to help the Timekeepers Motorcycle Club and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) make sure that riders complied with the 96dBA 20-inch J-1287 sound test and applicable spark arrester and vehicle registration requirements.

According to AMA District 36, KTM riders Billy Russell, Pat Garrahan, and Brian Sperle took the top 3 spots on the podium for the Wild Boar Enduro. Mark Maldonado, also a KTM rider, took top honors at the Wild Piglet Youth Enduro.
Don Amador, western representative for the BlueRibbon Coalition, said, “The real winners at these events are the trail riders who were able to participate in a sanctioned event at the Clear Creek Management Area. We have had our differences with BLM, but I can’t say enough about the cooperation between the Timekeepers Motorcycle Club and the agency in making this event a success. Hopefully the joint effort to protect resources both at the main camping area on private land and throughout the course is a good example of a new management tone at the facility.”

“Cooperation, partnerships, and commitment are the keys to keeping riding areas open and I saw all three at the Wild Boar and Wild Piglet Enduros. It was a privilege to be part of those events,” Amador concludes.
