In a challenging and muddy Round 3 of the 17-round Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, Aaron Plessinger of Red Bull KTM secured a hard-fought and emotional victory. With this win, Plessinger not only took the top spot on the podium but also claimed the lead in the championship points.

Cooper Webb, a two-time champion from Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, battled through the deep-rutted track to take second place, earning his first podium of the year. Justin Barcia of Troy Lee Designs Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing secured the runner-up spot under clear skies on the rain-soaked track, adding to the excitement of the 50th Anniversary Race that commemorates the sport’s 50th year.

In the Western Regional 250SX Class, Nate Thrasher of Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing emerged victorious after a thrilling battle that saw the top three riders trading positions throughout the entire race. Thrasher’s win marked his fifth career victory and his first podium of the year. Garrett Marchbanks of Muc-Off FXR ClubMX Yamaha settled for second place after fighting into the lead, while Jordon Smith of Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing rounded out the podium, extending his championship points lead over his nearest competitor.

The series now heads north for the second 2024 race inside Angel Stadium of Anaheim, representing Round 4 of the 17-round Monster Energy AMA Supercross series and the fourth round of the 31-round SuperMotocross World Championship. The SuperMotocross League, now in its second year, combines points from the complete Supercross season and the 11-round AMA Pro Motocross season, leading to playoffs and a final to crown the SMX champions.
